Upcycled Shirt

There was a pile of uniform samples at work that we could take- so I did.  I took a plain grey shirt ( size too big) and a long sleeve white jersey top ( size slightly too small).

I mulled over what to do with them, besides arranging them in various positions on my floor.  Then decided that the only logical move was to cut them up and sew them together.  So I cut the top off the shirt, and unpicked the sleeves as the shoulders sat in the wrong place so I needed to take them up.  And attached to the body section of the white top.

Mustard Yellow Flower Top

I had a fun day off last week of a dentist appointment and an interview in two different towns (both different from where I live) and involved a wide variety of buses and trains, but also somehow led me to the fabric shop I used to visit.  I bought some yellow flowery jersey from the remnants bin, I decided to try to make a top and a skirt.  I used a t-shirt and a wrap around top as guides for my pattern pieces and the construction was fairly simple although I was severely stimed by trying to hem jersey. It goes all crinkly, and I think I will unpick it and replace with lace.  I added lace to the mid section for some detail and fun.
Above is the top deconstructed, so you can see all the pattern pieces.  There was only five pieces in total and some lace so it was fairly simple.

Little Stegosaurus Friend

Not fabric related but I've left you so long- this is my little clay stego that I made today.  It will air dry and then I might paint it but at the moment I like the natural clay look.
